У червні слухачі літніх шкіл з іноземних мов стали учасниками Всеукраїнського конкурсу есе «Діти України – єдині. United Children of Ukraine», що проходив за ініціативи Українського кризового медіа-центру за інформаційної підтримки Міністерства освіти і науки України.

Брали участь у конкурсі учні 10-11 класів. Відповідно до умов проведення старшокласники писали есе, в яких висловлювали своє бачення поширення в суспільстві ідей толерантності, взаємоповаги, людяності та примирення.

Із 332 робіт, надісланих на адресу організаторів конкурс, переважна більшість написана українською мовою, більше 60 – англійською. Є також роботи німецькою, французькою мовами. Російською мовою лише 2 есе.

Творчі роботи учасників конкурсу увійдуть до збірки «Діти України – єдині: до миру через толерантність на порозуміння» («United Children of Ukraine: Creating Peace by Building Tolerance and Understanding»), яку журі направлять в Адміністрацію Президента, Міністерство освіти України, Міністерство соціального розвитку, Міністерство оборони України. Робиться це для того, щоб ті дорослі люди, від яких наразі залежить майбутнє українських дітей, отримали унікальну можливість подивитися на те, що відбувається у нашій країні, очима прогресивної учнівської молоді.

Від школярів Чернігівщини на адресу організаторів надійшло аж 29 робіт з Городнянського та Коропського районів, м. Ніжина, Чернігівського обласного педагогічного ліцею для обдарованої сільської молоді, а також обласної літньої школи для обдарованої та талановитої молоді.

Одним із авторів 15 кращих робіт є учениця 10 класу Ніжинської гімназії №16 Аліна Рідзель, яка написала есе німецькою та англійською мовами. Така висока оцінка творчої роботи надала Аліні можливість у вересні взяти участь у прес-конференції, яку побачить вся країна, та майстер-класі за участі редакторів провідних ЗМІ країни.

The Ukrainian nation is known to be strong, proud and invincible. We inherited these very features thanks to our ancestors- Cossacks of The Zaporozhian Sich. Pages of chronicles, different important historical documents give us an opportunity to plunge into the wonderful and exciting world of that powerful epoch. Being faithful, having fortitude and the feeling of fraternity, Cossacks tried to defend the right to independence not only of their motherland, but also of their moral principles. They are the heroes of the unforgettable epoch, who sacrificed their life to fight for Ukraine. Years pass and the contemporaries replaced the Cossacks. Of course, it’s difficult to compare us with the Cossacks. Our world has changed greatly since those times. Now it is more technological and developed, but at the same time it is even more cruel. We all got used to the betrayal of our friends, relatives and just strangers. Nowadays, a brother can easily disown his brother and a son can leave his mother. Unfortunately, the youth prefers such traits of character as clumsiness, intolerance, brutality and anger to kindness decency and so on. One can often observe the fights of drunk people, foul language and rudeness. To my mind, jealousy and envy is the thing which makes us behave this way. No wonder that today it is hard to believe that a passer- by will have a desire to help a stranger. But recently I have changed my mind having seen on the screens of TV-sets the events which happened in Kyiv more than a year ago. Even now it is hard and terribly to recall them again, but the courage and such a mighty force of the Ukrainian nation helped to fight corruption and fragile glory of our authority against all odds.

Then, there was Donbass with its tragic events. Now thousands of Ukrainian men are fighting for Ukraine, for their family and for the national unity. Our fathers, brothers, friends and sweethearts show us the very traits of character that were neglected long ago. So, such things as peace, harmony, unity that we have been always willing to see, now can be shown by to our men. Ukraine rebelled against enemies thanks to its people, which began to respect each other and develop the feeling of fraternity.

The events that I have described can't serve as a good example of human respect and tolerance, but they awakened these qualities in our hearts and minds. As all the rest of the children of Ukraine I ask only for one thing: don’t forget who you are and who you were born. Remember, only thanks to the above mentioned qualities such as tolerance and mutual support we will be able to help Ukraine to survive and become one of the best countries in the world!
